Why these two

A country, and the corner of it we print from

3DFLO is a small 3D printing shop in Swansea. These two kits started as something to put on the counter rather than a product line — a word, a base, and a panel behind it you could change when you got tired of looking at it.

SWANSEA is the town: the pier out at Mumbles, Three Cliffs Bay on Gower — traced from a photograph taken standing there — and the swan the city took for its own, even though the name most likely came from a Norseman called Sveinn rather than from any bird.

CYMRU is the country around it. The word comes from an old Brythonic one, combrogi — fellow countrymen. Wales named itself after its people rather than its borders. Y Ddraig Goch, a wall of dragon scale, and a castle, of which there are more than six hundred in a country you can drive across in an afternoon.

Take both and you have the pair of them — one for the shelf, one for the windowsill, or one for you and one for whoever moved away and still calls it home.
