Getting the most from Hyper PLA-CF
4 min read · 3DFLO, Swansea
Carbon-fibre PLA prints beautifully and hides layer lines behind a matte finish — but it is unforgiving of two things.
Hardened nozzle, no exceptions
Carbon fibre is abrasive. A brass nozzle will visibly wear within a couple of spools and your extrusion will drift thin before you notice why.
Larger nozzle helps
0.6mm reduces jamming and prints faster with almost no visible loss of detail on functional parts.
Settings that work
- 220–235°C nozzle, 60°C bed
- Retraction slightly lower than standard PLA
- Dry it at 55°C if the spool has been open a while
- Expect a matte finish that hides seams and ringing beautifully
